Critical Role Campaign 4 Reveals the Warriors Table
From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, fresh DM the talented storyteller has kept fans guessing with deep backstory, a colorful mix of characters, and a gripping narrative featuring celestial beings, evil spirits, and malevolent powers growing in influence within the city.
Heads-up: Revealing details for the third episode of Campaign 4 lie ahead.
The Warrior Group Introduced
The latest chapter concluded with a major cliffhanger and revealed the premier party of adventurers who will separate from the central cast to undertake their separate journey, separate from the additional parties.
This warrior group includes Teor Pridesire (played by Travis Willingham), Thimble (Laura Bailey), the strong-willed figure (Whitney), Wicander (the player), and Kattigan (Robbie).
The Reason for Division
Considering a large ensemble, it was clear from the beginning that keeping everyone at one table would be unfeasible.
That’s why, the initial installments of Campaign 4 serve as an Overture, connecting the characters’ stories before branching into three separate parties: Warriors, Planners, and Questers.
The Nature of the Warrior Group
Per the DM, the combat-focused party is for participants who enjoy a typically action-packed combat and conflict-driven narrative style where diplomatic options are rare.
Upon first impression, figures such as the reluctant priest Wicander Halovar might appear out of place, but the events of the latest installment make it clear why these five characters are perfectly fit for the combat party.
Reasons to Leave
For one thing, the group has a clear idea where to head next after a brutal initial meeting with the antagonists.
An old friend of Thjazi Fang—whose demise started the campaign’s events—manipulated The Crow Keepers for his personal gain, invading the secret base, attacking Thimble, and stealing all the powerful objects to dispose of.
The antagonist then paid off his debts and ran away to a secure base in the northern region, beyond the urban center, with Cyd Pridesire pursuing him.
Individual Reasons
Secondly, each character has a personal reason to exit the metropolitan area:
- The rogue, as Thjazi’s partner and closest confidant, desires vengeance.
- The knowledgeable figure has experience in Timmony and cautions that it is a dangerous environment.
- Tyranny and The healer, having disobeyed his relatives’ demands to eliminate the fighter and instead rescued him, have no safe haven.
- Yet, their position as prominent individuals in House Halovar could enable the team enter areas they normally couldn’t.
- Furthermore, Teor vowed a eternal obligation to The savior for his rescue and will now accompany him everywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
In addition, all of them are hunted by the powers that rule Dol-Makjar for a variety of reasons, making staying in the city no longer safe:
- The agile adventurer and The character are notorious outlaws.
- Tyranny and The cleric turned against House Halovar and the horde of evil beings they are allied with.
- Teor is targeted for elimination by the family.
This leaves them few options but to head to Timmony in pursuit of the antagonist.
What’s Next?
From the recent installment’s post-show segment, we discover that the Soldiers table won’t be around next week, leaving the remaining eight participants to round up the Questers and Planners parties.
Fans can expect discovering which characters will be assigned to which table in the season’s final introductory chapter, available to watch on October 24.
